The Friends of Fletcher Theatre has been set up to raise the profile of Rye's literary
and artistic activities and facilities to bring culture and economic benefit to Rye by
building on the heritage of John Fletcher.
The Friends would like to achieve this by working in partnership with the owners on
the renovation of the monastery bringing to life another part of Rye's heritage. It is,
however, not the only option in respect of a permanent location.
Whilst identifying venues we will be build the Fletcher brand by introducing artistic
initiatives. See background on Friends of Fletcher page
Who we are
A small group of volunteers has taken on the role to build the Fletcher brand although
we welcome and encourage all those who would like to contribute to the success of
the project.
The Fletcher Project, was the brainchild of Freddie Lees, local author and historian.
Freddie will remain involved but has passed over the management of the Project
which will have the following structure:
Fletcher Theatre CIC
Fletcher Theatre is a Community Interest Company. CIC's are created for the use of
people who want to conduct a business or other activity for community benefit, and
not purely for private advantage.
In order to acurately reflect the range of activities we have changed the name of the
company to Fletcher in Rye CIC (as from 1 December 2010).
